Description

This command lets the high priest of a deity get information about and control the use of that deity's deity pool when they are at their high altar.

Observation

It gives the high priest the ability to see not only who is draining and who is filling the deity pool, but the use and contributions made by a particular person over the past three weeks.

Edicts

It may be used to set edicts on ritual use, tithing guild points to refill the pool, using deity points to reduce ritual costs for priests and followers or using deity points to provide assistance in performing rituals, making those rituals stronger.

These edicts affect all priests and followers who are members of the current church. People who are excommunicated will see neither benefit nor penalty from the edicts.

The Sacred and the Profane

Finally, obsecrate lets the high priest choose to ban certain rituals, to their flock or to others.

For instance, the high priestess of Fish might choose to deem the ritual "restore" to be profane, meaning that no priest or follower of Fish would be able to use "restore" from faith rods.

As a more potent measure, she could deem all rituals from a given rival deity unholy. For instance, if she deemed rituals of Hat unholy, this would mean that faith rods created by priests of Hat are unusable by Fish priests and followers, regardless of the ritual (so even if the ritual is also given by another deity!).

Alternately, she might choose to ban "breathe underwater" to followers of Gufnork, in an attempt to preserve a unique culture and set of rituals amongst her clergy and followers. This would prevent anyone following Gufnork from using "breathe underwater" rods made by priests of Fish.

Example

> obsecrate fish for information on deity points regarding dasquian
You obsecrate Fish for specific information about the usage of the deity point pool by Dasquian, and learn the following:
So far this week, Dasquian has spent 89 deity points overall but would have added 489 if it had not been at maximum capacity.
Last week, Dasquian contributed 28 deity points to the pool overall and would have added 430 more if it had not been at maximum capacity.
Two weeks ago, Dasquian contributed 44 deity points to the pool overall and would have added 266 more if it had not been at maximum capacity.
