(Answer) (Category) Discworld Faq-O-Matic : (Category) The Rules and How to Avoid Breaking Them :
My friend and I want to play from a network, but we can't both login, what should I do?
If the MUD is telling you that you can't log in because someone else is already playing from that address, then it's because the MUD is seeing your network as a single address. We don't allow more than one person to log on from a single address because multiplaying isn't allowed on Discworld (see help multiplechars).

However, if there are two people who wish to play from your network, you can get special permission to log on together. You need to speak to a liaison when you are both present at your respective computers and ready to login. Please make sure that you have at least half an hour to go through the process, as we have to check that you are different people before you can play together and this can take a while!

Once you have this permission, it means that your characters (and any registered alts) can play together at any time. However, if anyone new wants to play from your network, you will have to contact a liaison again.
