(Answer) (Category) Discworld Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Communication :
Why is everything black and white? How do I turn colours on?
By default, your terminal type is set to 'dumb' when you first log in to Discworld. By typing 'term ansi', you will switch your terminal type to that of ansi - and as such, you should be able to see the world in the glorious colour it was meant to be seen in!

In addition to changing your terminal type you may wish to enable colour input from your fellow users.
Use of the options command will allow this. 'options output usercolour = on' will allow other user's colour output to be displayed at your character's terminal.
