Shop Counter

Name

Shop Counter - A counter used by player shop owners to manage their stock and sales.

Basics

This help file is aimed at shop customers. Staff should refer to the commercial property owner's guide. Copies of this are available from the relevant real estate office. Customers have a number of options while in the shop: list, sell, value, browse, waiting, royalties, notifications. These options will be detailed below.

General Information

Shop counters have limited room for listings and for items that are waiting to be sold. You can find the owner of a shop and information on how full it is by looking at the counter. This is useful when you have a question or complaint about somethign you have bought or intend to sell. The shop can issue notifications when items you have sold are approved (see "selling" below). Use the "notifications" command to check or change your settings for this. The "value" command can be used to see if an item has been pre-approved by the shop management and how much they are willing to pay for it.

Buying

The "list" command on its own will show which categories the shop has used to divide the stock as well as the number of unique entries withing each category. To see the actual stock use "list <category>". The "browse <object>" command will give greater detail of a listing in the shop. To review an item you have sold to the shop you can use "browse waiting <id>" (see "waiting" below).

Selling

When you sell an item to the shop you will need to create a listing name, select the category for the listing and state how much you wish to sell the item for (you will be prompted for each choice). In most cases this will place the item in the storeroom and will require the shop staff to approve the item for sale before you receive any money for the sale. In some cases the shop owner may have automated the approval process in which case you may find that your items are approved as soon as you sell them. When this happens your royalties (see below) will be available immediately. Any items sold with the same name and price will be entered into a single grouped listing that the shop staff can approve or deny. Because grouped listings can only be approved in full, most shop owners will ask you not to list too many items in a single grouping. You cannot sell something to the shop when you have royalties ready to collect.

Waiting

You can list, browse or retrieve items you have sold to the shop until they are approved by the shop staff. To list your waiting items use the "waiting" command. Not that there are options to filter this to a single category and to sort the list. se "syntax waiting". To review your waiting item in detail you can "browse waiting <id>". Note that the waiting ID includes the "-". "retrieve <id>" allows you to cancel the sale of an item grouping. It is not possible to retrieve only part of a grouping.

Royalties

Once one or more of your items has been approved you will have royalties waiting to be collected. Royalties will be available for two weeks before timing out and can be "collect"ed in part or full. You will not be able to sell more items to the shop while you have outstanding royalties. You can see how much you have in the way of royalties using the "royalties" command.
