Seed Drill, posted on Wed Jan 22 16:05:27 2025

Goat pellets can now be referred to as "seeded", "unseeded", and "seedless", as appropriate.

Tapping a camera that's run out of both paint and frames will now tell you about both these problems rather than just one of them.

The jelly sweets from the Academy of Artificers will now remember their shape over logout. (If you have any old ones hanging about, you might need to su twice in order to make them take on a shape that will stick.)

Pet deerhounds have been stopped from spamming messages ab...

The change to bathroom furniture that I blogged about last month has now been implemented. Specifically:

From now on, the "fill" command for bathroom furniture such as baths and basins will only work when the furniture item is "plumbed in", i.e. placed as furniture.

While I'm here, I will also reiterate my previous explanation for this change, to make sure it's clear. This isn't about "realism", and it isn't about wanting to make sailing more difficult. The reason for this change is to make ...

Some Horsey Tweaks, posted on Thu Jan 9 12:37:46 2025

This bugfix weekend saw a few horsey bugs repaired:

* Grooming towels were getting damaged at a much higher rate than the other grooming gear, and sometimes quietly breaking. They now take the same level of damage as the rest.

* Horses will no longer come to their owners while said owners are flying through the air on a broomstick. (If they still do, please file a bugreport with a log that might show how it came to be. If you step into the air room through a portal while sat on, or leading, a ho...

Some changes have been made to who can displace furniture and remove items from player housing that is listed for auction. Specifically, from now on, only the previous tenant and anyone they "allow"ed in the property will be able to remove things during the auction period.

There are several reasons for this change. It provides a "grace period" for players who have gone inactive or run out of money during an unexpected absence from the Disc, allowing them or their cohabitants to move their belo...

A Flying Visit, posted on Thu Nov 21 23:15:53 2024

Just a quick notification about some adjustments to items and spells:

* Djinn flame weapons no longer give off light if the flame colour is some variation of "black".

* To assist with the above, the willing well in the djinn outpost now has a proper help file that shows all its commands and their syntaxes.

* The djinn flying hammer (both versions) was rather weaker than intended and has been adjusted to bring it more inline with other djinn weapons. The weight is now a little lower and the ...

Get At Most 1 Bit Of Information From Blog Post, posted on Mon Nov 18 04:29:44 2024

Bing.

Ye olde 'get' command has gotten a small upgrade. The 'get at most' syntax should now work for money and continuous items (like ash) ... with a few restrictions:

1. The syntax hasn't changed; it's still "get at most <number> <things> [from <containers>]. This means you can't do something like 'get at most 1 handful of ash, 3 carrots from sacks'

2. You can't mix 'n' match different types of continuous objects. This means if you have grey ash and black ash, and you say 'get at most 20 p...

The mailer is now more informative about what's actually happening when you (a) save a message from one folder to another, and (b) answer its questions about whether you'd like to save your messages to the "received" folder and/or delete the messages marked for deletion.

Note: quitting the mailer may get spammier in the short term if you have previously misunderstood how things work and hence ended up with all the things in your inbox being also duplicated in your "received" folder. Hopefully t...

A few fixes and adjustments have been made since the launch of the new Hedge Wizards' area in Skund Forest. Depending if/when you visited, you may not have experienced the 'before' version of these changes, but for the sake of those early birds who ran into a few oddities, here are the most relevant changes:

Skund Hedge Wizard Outpost:

- The teleport circle on the lower floor now transports your followers when you use it to move

- The misty archways inside the giant tree are better at kee...

Mushclient Users: Please Clean Your IP Cache!, posted on Wed Sep 18 08:06:56 2024

Hello all,

If you are using Mushclient and find yourself unable to connect to Discworld later today, we advise that you go to File => World properties, where you may find a button "refresh cached IP", which you should press!

Explanation: the MUD is always reachable on discworld.starturtle.net, but to deal with network issues, we sometimes have to change which IP this address points to.

Unfortunately, some MUD clients -- of which Mushclient is the commonly used one -- cache the IP you have conne...

The klein bottle cosies sold in the Creel Springs magic shop now come in a range of colours (including one super-rare). The plain ones are still available for those who prefer them.

A bug has been fixed that was preventing anyone from getting the best result for the earring in the well-chewed metalworking book.

The soul formerly known as "eskimo" is now known as "hongi".

Inspired by the popularity of lettuce-eating tortoises, the geese from the Slippery Hollow pet stall will now accept gifts ...
