Personal Information

Everything you never wanted to know about Pinkfish but were afraid to ask.

General stuff

Who am I? What is my star sign? How many times have I run around an oval?  Why is it these personal things always end up sounding silly?

David Bennett, Cancer, too many times to count, no idea.

I started University at the University of Western Australia in 1988 doing an Engineering course. I finished in 1996 doing a Computer Science course, some of those years were part time. During my time at University I joined up with the University Computer Club there, of which I later became a president and the only person to successful run a whole party in a UCC election (the fish party). The Computer Club taught me a lot about programming and I did things during my time there which have helped me a lot in later life, trying to get jobs in random places.

Since December 1991 I have been running Discworld MUD on and off. It has been a very interesting experience, both in terms of the coding challenge in maintaining and writing such a large project and the interpersonal problems which will always tend to emerge in groups of people. I like to think that Discworld MUD has met both challenges quite successfuly and survived to be a wonderful and exciting MUD.

My work life has been mostly in the area of Trunking Mobile Phones, which are similar to Cellular phones but not quite the same.  See my resume for more details.

At the end of May in 1998 I left Australia on my way to my job in the United States (working for BSquare in Seattle), on my way I met a bunch of people and took a bunch of photos.

I started to edit a mud magazine called Imaginary Realities in September 1998, hopefully it is still going strong when you read this.
