A witch named Brienna has taken up residence on Wall Street West in Sto Lat. Rumour has it that she can help you reverse any unfortunate tattoo-related decisions you might have made while inebriated (or even while stone-cold sober).

I have now cleaned up the mess I left last time I played with the code. I've probably left a whole new mess but progress is progress :)

First of all, the recent change to allow people who had missed the chance at the addiction achievements meant that no-one could gain the achievements. This has now been sorted.

Secondly, Fools who had Faces that required an accessory worn on the face/head didn't get their benefit from wearing their face because they were wearing something on their face/head. ...

Over the years, the effects of MMM on NPCs and on players had drifted apart unintentionally. This has now been fixed, and so, for example, NPCs can no longer backstab while under the influence of MMM.

Two new souls have been added: "coo" and "dust". Relatedly, the syntax for using the feather duster has been changed to "dust X with duster" (rather than just "dust X").

The guards who spawn in the offices of the Coffee Nostra officials (consiglieres, accountants, etc) were not always joining in...

Seeking Screenreader Users To Apply As Playtesters, posted on Mon Jun 30 17:19:53 2025

Do you use a screenreader to play the MUD? Would you ever consider applying as a playtester?

If your answer to both of these questions is yes, then the PT domain admin would love to hear from you! We don't currently have any PTs who use screenreaders, and we'd like to fill this gap in our team.

You can talk to Kake, Mauve or Pokey for more information, or check out the resources under the Playtesting menu on the MUD website, or just take the plunge and use the "apply" command.

Please note th...

Vessels (i.e. liquid-containers such as cups, buckets, bottles, etc) can now be manually filled when you're in a water room using the syntax "fill <object> from here".

Honeycombs can now be referred to as "full honeycomb" or "empty honeycomb" as appropriate.

Barbarian-themed saddlebags are now sold at the summer and winter Hublandish Barbarian camps.

Flowers braided into your hair are no longer visible when you're wearing something that covers your hair.

As I blogged about last month, we recently identified a long-standing bug that was sometimes letting objects be put inside containers when they shouldn't have fitted due to length and width restrictions.

For the past two weeks, the MUD has been giving a WARNING to anyone who managed (due to this bug) to put an over-large item inside a container it shouldn't fit into. This was done in order to let people check whether they had been unwittingly taking advantage of this bug, and if so, to make any...

This month's Bugfix Weekend involved fixes across the Disc. Below are some of the most noteworthy:

* Mrs Cosmopilite's branch in Holy Wood has begun to rotate its stock a little more frequently.

* The dogs from Peter Periwinkle's pet shop will now respond to a wider range of souls (try barking and howling at them, for example). Also, a bug has been fixed that was making some of them try to pick up things from the floor that were too heavy; those that do pick things up will now target lighter ...

The Ohulan-Cutash arcane transport NPC has finally remembered where Ephebe and Genua are.

You can now rock in all, not just some, of the rocking chairs sold as playerhouse furniture.

Master Yung will no longer tell aspiring ninja that they're ready to become chunin when they actually aren't.

The "indian" soul has been removed. (For those who were unaware: its name involves a derogatory reference to Native Americans.)

Paper packets are now less weird about what they'll let you put into them. ...

A bug has been identified that was sometimes letting objects be put inside containers when they shouldn't have fitted due to length and width restrictions. This bug has been in place for a long time, so we wanted to give you all a heads-up before we fix it, so you can adjust your inventories, aliases, routines, etc as appropriate.

As a first step, we have added code that will give a WARNING when you try to put something inside a container it shouldn't fit into; but for now, the over-large thing...

A few small bugs have been fixed, all relating to smuggling in some way.

People who are wrapped in kraken tentacles will now be correctly moved to the washout beach if the ship sinks before they manage to get free.

There was a bug allowing you to smash debris and driftwood with an axe even if you weren't holding the axe. This bug has now been fixed, bringing these objects in line with other smashable sailing objects.

The captain in the smugglers' maze would previously sometimes fail his hidin...
