(Answer) (Category) Discworld Faq-O-Matic : (Category) Getting Around. :
Is there a faster way to travel between cities than walking?
There certainly are lots of ways!

The cheapest option is to take a carriage. These don't run between all the cities, but they serve Ankh Morpork and the surrounding cities particularly well. To use a carriage, just wait until one arrives and enter it. You can then leave it when you reach your destination.

Some guilds give their members ways of travelling long distances. Priests have a ritual called 'divine hand', wizards have a spell called portal (or Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel), and witches have broomsticks. Although these abilities typically need quite high skills, wizards and priests can carry other people with them, so you can ask them for help, or you can contact a club which is specifically designed to help people travel around, for a fee ('refer taxi' for more information).

Discworld also has one very mysterious way of travelling around. We have two travelling shops (see help tshop) which move around various parts of the Disc. If you can find one, they can be a very convenient way of travelling around, and they stock some interesting items. However, they're quite elusive.
