(Answer) (Category) Discworld Faq-O-Matic : (Category) You and Your Character :
Some of these commands are really long, is there a way to make it easier/quicker?
You can create aliases for commands that you use frequently (see help alias). This allows you to choose a convenient shorthand for your commonly used commands.

For example, if I commonly send tells to both Wyvyrn and Mellandrin, I might create an alias for this. I would type 'alias twm tell wyvyrn, mellandrin' so that if I typed 'twm Hi!' I would see 'You tell Wyvyrn and Mellandrin: Hi!'.

Aliases can become really complicated. There is a good (but long) tutorial in help alias_tutorial. However, if you just want something shorter to type, you can just type 'alias '.

If you want to shorten names, you can use the 'nickname' command. This works in the same way as alias, but can be used when it isn't the start of a command. For example, I could type 'nickname wyvyrn wyv' and then I could type 'tell wyv' instead of 'tell wyvyrn'.
